Car rental Athens airport

Check out ACR Athens Car Rental. They are locally owned and have a very good reputation. They do not have a office at the airport but bring the car to you when you arrive. They will have an agent at arrivals to take you tot he car which will be parked at arrivals. We have used them several times.

Yes, we had a good experience with ACR last September. The pick up at airport was smooth and the car was excellent. Also, they helped us when we returned the car in Athens and could not get to the drop-off location. They let us pick the time and location for the return, but I picked a place on a map that was not as easy to reach as it looked (near the Plaka), and I underestimated the craziness of Athens traffic, having never driven there before (Ok, maybe not the best plan)! I was following the GPS, but when we arrived at the destination we were on the wrong side of a major 6-lane street. Faced with having to navigate a new route I bailed and ended up stopping at the nearest parking space I could find several blocks away. Although we were early, as well as out of place, ACR found us and drove us to our hotel.

Thanks for the replies. So can you drop off the car back at the airport? We’ll be arriving back there and needing to head straight to our flight. Also, I’ve read some reviews about ACR charging large fees for minor, pre-existing damage (scratches etc). Any input on that?

Last time we rented from ACR we did a walkaround with them and noted every ding and scratch which was noted on the contract papers. We also videoed the walk around so we had a clear record. When we returned the car we did a quick walk around and no problems.

We were very happy with ACR. However, be aware that the bond is high (800 euros) and takes 10-15 days to release after car return. We are still waiting on ours and do not want to rent another car until after its release so are a bit stuck.

Apologies, I just re-read their blurb and bond return is 15-25 days after car return which seems excessive to me!
