Buying your X95 Bus pass ahead of time

I was thinking of purchasing my X95 bus pass ahead of time (when we first arrive). At the end of our trip we are taking a bus tour that will drop us off at Othonos street and we will take the X95 bus to the airport. We have a rough estimate of a drop off. I was thinking if we get dropped off and a bus pulls up it may be easier to have the tickets purchased ahead of time to get on. Instead of getting in line to purchase the tickets and waiting additional 15 minutes for the next bus.

I thought I read some place that the ticket is good for one month and it doesn't mater the time as it is validated once you scan it when getting on the bus. You have to scan it also when you get off correct.

Is there any other place we can buy the the X95 ticket? Hotels?

Calm down, this is Greece. Bus drivers don't get their kicks from zooming off, just as people are tapping on the door to board. Anyway, there won't be a line this isn't the Sistine Chapel; there are never more than 3-4 people waiting at the kiosk for a ticket, and a bus won't leave when people are waiting to get on. You have to buy the ticket there, but Sure, if you're passing by the stop on an earlier day, you can buy ahead, and there's a stanchion on the sidewalk so you can see the daily timetable.

And if you get to the stop, and there isn't a bus coming for the next 15 minutes, guess what? You'll have time to go to a nearby street vendor and buy a Koulouri -- the world's BEST street-food!! (Think Philly soft-pretzel only crunchier, with sesame seeds).

You can actually buy the ticket from the driver on the bus. No need to buy in advance unless you find that easier than fiddling with money while you have luggage. You need to remember to validate it when you get on, but there’s no need to do anything as you get off.

Do you need to validate when you leave the bus as well?

Buses run every 20 minutes. One note of caution: The bus is 6 E, the metro is 10 E. You catch both from Syntygma Sq. If you are going during a busy time, the train is not delayed by traffic. We left at 2 for a 5 PM flight, and were quite concerned with the traffic.

Slight correction from Alan's assertion that you can buy the ticket from the driver @ Syntagma ...that is only when the kiosk beside the bus door is not open (mainly in the night hours). If it's manned you buy ticket there. Unmanned, from the driver.

Sorry, I was unclear.

Janet is right you can’t buy a ticket from the driver at Syntagma. You can anywhere else on the route. (I generally get on at Evangelismos.)
