Is there a source of new Greek sculpture in Athens or in the area of Athens? I'm looking for replicas of classical Greek statuary. And if you've ever purchased pieces in Greece, how did you get them back to the states? Ship or carry on the plane?

Lots of shops in Plaka area selling repros. Whether they are marble or not I don’t know. How big are you thinking? Marble is heavy and getting it home could cost you a lot. I have an alabaster egg, same size as an ordinary hen’s large egg that weighs 4.8 oz. , and a carved marble bear that measures 4 inches by 3 inches by 1.5 inches and weighs nearly 13 ozs

I purchased a small Cycladic statue on the island of Milos. I had it carefully wrapped, and carried it in my suitcase.
Certainly you should be able to find sculptures in many art galleries in Athens. I don't know exactly where -- perhaps you could do some online research before you leave, or maybe your hotel will have recommendations. Unless the sculpture is quite small, you would most likely want to have it shipped.
Or -- have you checked online? I did a quick search and found several websites selling Greek sculpture, shipped from Greece to your home. It doesn't quite have the feeling of a souvenir that you personally selected, but it might be cost-effective.

My partner bought a vase in Athens that was too big to carry on so we shipped it. He paid about 300 Euros for it. That included shipping. It took about 5 weeks to arrive. The store owner showed us other things he was shipping as we made our purchase - the items were wrapped and taped and wrapped some more. He clearly took a lot of care with them. Our vase arrived intact and perfect.
We made the purchase in March of this year.
There’s tons of places to buy statues and vases - we could have looked forever. In the end, we picked a store that I found reviews of online, with a friendly owner and prices that were average for what we’d been seeing.
