hello all- I was wondering if you need to reserve a spot on the bus to and from Nafplio? I might make a ferry reservation in Piraeus upon our return from Nafpilo so need to make sure we can get on the bus or is it ever full? thanks Cheri ps is it cheaper buying round trip tickets too?
I'm guessing you mean to/from Athens. A couple of years ago going from Athens we couldn't get on the first bus we could have connected with but got on the next. I'm not sure we could have reserved in advance even if we wanted to - maybe now?
You can pre-buy tickets. Go to the below website, then click on the "services" link for on-tickets and enter your information.

A few details would help in giving you advice. Can you say the exact DATES you refer to?? July-August is high season ... and weekdays may be different from weekends, so for best help please be specific. As for return from Nafplio -- I gather you will be spending a few days there, not just a day-trip; in that case, you can just book your ticket at the Nafplio bus station a couple days beforehand, once you know which departure you want. As for the bus TO, date please.
Cheri
I asssume by the end of this month you mean March? If so I would have thought you'd have no problem just turning up in Athens and getting on. We've never found the bus full in April although, as Janet says, it might be different high season.
Yes, a return is slightly cheaper and you can buy an open return. Then, again as Janet says, you can confirm an exact bus once you're in Nafplio.
Hello again- We leave Athens March 31 to Napflio for 3 nights so depart there on April 3rd after which we catch a ferry to Aegina so need to catch either a 2:15 or 3:30 ferry. I am assuming taking a taxi from Kissifou bus station would be easiest to the ferry dock? Do I need to make ferry reservations as well? Does anyone know what the taxi might cost for that distance? thanks again
For whatever it's worth, I went in June, arrived at the station, bought a ticket, and hopped right on--no problems.
Last time I took a taxi, in other direction , TO Kissifou, it was about €13 & change... probably €15 by now. And NO, that tme of year no need to buy ferry tix ahead.
BTW, just noticed you're heading for Aegina. Most of the vessels going there are hydrofoils, which are closed-in, with no decks, and rime-clouded window, thus no view. At least one way, try for a Conventional ferry, with open decks. Ride is only 15 minutes longer, and the view sitting on deck is fab ... all the liners, the ferries, then sailboats and yachts... and then the wide Saronic bay, and the approach to the island.
