Does blue star ferries reserve some tickets for day-of-departure to purchase at the dock? Do they have space-available or standby seats?
I guess we are wondering if the seats aren,’t available online, should we head to Piraeus anyway......
When are you traveling ? We’ve been in May and September in both cases we just bought tickets day of ot day before - no biggie - however I understand it’s best to reserve in July or August
Are you in Greece now? If so, I’d suggest going to any travel agency and they’ll be able to help you book your ferry tickets. It’s best to book tickets in advance, or at least the day before you want to travel.
What island are you wanting to visit?
It would be rare that the larger Blue Star ferries would sell out, maybe over Easter, some dates at the start or end of August Holiday, but usually not.
Unless one of those apply, I would assume you can get tickets. You can just show up, but when you arrive in Athens, just go to a travel agency (a number on Syntagma Square) and have them get you tickets. No more cost. Otherwise, yes, you can go to the docks and get tickets.
Thanks to all for the replies.
Here is info from my recent experience:
Blue Star ferries DO sell out in March. Blue Star ferries do NOT reserve stand-by, walk-on or day-of tickets, :(
