Blue Star Ferry Piraeus-Syros late August - Q

We (2 parents, one 8 year old) will be traveling from Piraeus to Syros Aug. 25, returning Sept. 1. I've read the cautions about the difficulties of buying tickets from the US, but since this is high season and both days are Saturdays, I'm wondering if we should buy in advance. FWIW some classes of tickets for these trips already appear to be getting low or are sold out.

Any advice on whether (and HOW) to buy in advance appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! There had been posts suggesting that tickets need to be mailed to the buyer or their hotel, the former costly, the latter possibly unreliable (esp. many months in advance).

If you are landing at the airport before you begin your ferry adventure, you might consider going online to the airport travel agency. AKTINA http://www.aktinatravelgroup.com/Contact.htm You can order using credit card and on arrival, pick them up right there. If you buy from the ferry line, you'd have to pick up tickets at a kiosk on the pier... and if it's a busy ferry day, there may be a long line. Aktina will charge a small convenience fee, but it's worth it. It's open 24/7 during high season, when u'll be going.

I'm not sure which ferry you are using but if you use Hellenic Seaways you can print the tickets at home. that is what I did
