This review is based on my own experience and concerns a private rental enterprise, an absentee landlord advertising his property in English as 'private apartment in the center of Artemonas, Sifnos', Communication is impossible as the only 'contact' person on site does not speak English. Although clients get written instructions on how to get to the property, these are incomplete and they are advised to 'ask at [the nearby restaurant] Mosaico' for directions. Sadly, said restaurant is often closed. Or clients are told that the contact person will meet them at the restaurant - but they will meet no-one. The owner states that the contact person will come regularly and clean the flat, will change the sheets and towels [I stayed a week]. None of this happened. The flat was never cleaned; i had to use several plastic bags for the waste that accumulated in one week, including several bags for the used toilet paper that was never removed. When I complained through the rental agency, the contact person did come on the day before last, but still didn't make the bed and didn't clean anything - she put a broom by my door and pointed at a waste bin in the courtyard, indicating I should dump my waste there. She then lied to the landlord that she had done everything according to the instructions given. Further, the facilities included a washing machine, but this was not available as it was stuffed full of [someone else's ] dirty washing. Beware of absentee landlords! -especially when they don't actually mention in their English language posting that someone else [not speaking English] will be there as sole on-site contact .
