We are staying in Daois Cove which is located in Agios Nikolaos. We will be flying into Heraklion Airport. Advice on the best way to get from airport to the hotel and would anyone know the approximate cost if we traveled by taxi.
They offer their hotel car but it way too expensive.

Here are some bus schedules between the towns but you'll have to poke around there to see if you find airport info. You might have to connect at the bus station in Heraklion. See also the Heraklion airport site.
Heraklio airport is between Heraklion city centre and Agios Nikolaos and the bus from Heraklion to Agios Nikolaos actually passes past the airport. there is no need therefore to go into Heraklion to pick it up.

When I did this I found the bus stop a bit difficult to locate. It was tucked back on a verge behind parked cars. Fortunately if you are in the right area you are likely to spot the bus.
