Best time- beat the crowds?

Hi looking at the tour for March or April 2026. Is this pre- peak season ? Or less crowded.

Thank you for your perspectives-

Yes, March is pre=season and since school is still in session, less Americans on holiday anyway. Whcih tour are you planning on taking?

I was at the Athens Acropolis the first week of April, this year. We went to the museum first (around 930am) which had a few tour groups, but comfortably spaced. We went to the Parthenon just before noon and there were a lot of people, but it wasn't insane. And it wasn't hot - I was wearing lightweight long sleeves and a vest.

My only other visit for comparison was 30+ years ago in late September.

In Greece the peak season is roughly from late June to mid-September. Until mid-April it is low season, the exception is Easter week which will be in the 2nd week of April in 2026.

Mid Feb. the only time I have been to Sthens was mid Feb 2024. Pleasant weather. Not beach weather. No crowds whatsoever. Discount hotel pricing. Recommend!

The end of April or Early May is still early enough to Beat the crowds -- unless those RS tours are already fully booked and that's why you are looking earliler. Weather will be markedly better, Still chilly but much less chance of rain. I just helped a couple who went from May 2 - 23, and were very pleased with lack of crowding ... altho they'd hoped to swim, and this Spring apparently was colder than last year.

I was in Greece the second half of April and found it delightful.

Less tourists, lower costs for accommodations and nice weather.

Athens will be crowded regardless the time of year as it's a city of millions but still not the height of tourist season.

Even the Big Name Islands will have less tourists and parts of the mainland will be very quiet but still enough services to keep most people happy.

Depends on where you are going and what your interests are also.

FYI: All of my trips to Greece have been late Sept. and the first half of October for the same reasons as above but this past April was my first during that month and enjoyed it.
