Hi,
We are traveling to Italy and I am scheduling a few days to hop over to Greece. What would be the best island to visit that offers authentic quaint villages, good beaches and ease of access to get to and get around.
Thanks!
That sounds like an exciting trip! For a beautiful Greek island that offers quaint villages, lovely beaches, and easy access, I highly recommend Naxos. It's known for its stunning sandy beaches and charming inland villages, where you can experience authentic Greek culture. The island has a good transportation system, making it easy to explore.
Another great option is Paros, which also features beautiful beaches and picturesque villages. It's well-connected by ferry, so you can easily hop over to nearby islands if you want to explore more.
If you're looking for something a bit quieter, consider Koufonisia. This hidden gem has pristine beaches and a relaxed vibe, perfect for unwinding.
Whichever island you choose, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time soaking up the sun and enjoying the local culture! Safe travels!
Naxos doesn't have direct flights from Roma. You change planes in Athens. Mykonos has direct flights. I would guess Santorini also has direct flights. Both are the most touristed islands.
Edited to add: Corfu, Crete, and Rhodes also have direct flights. Rhodes was under Italian jurisdiction between WW1 and WW2.
Thank you for the replies. I was looking into Naxos. It looked really appealing. I just wasn't sure about the best way to get there so I appreciate the flight info as well. I just can't be that close and not see Greece even if it's just for a few days!
