My husband and I will be in Santorini for one night in December. I am looking for recommendations for hotels with the best sunset view for that time of year? Also, as we will be on the island for a little over 24 hrs, what are some must see/do items that we should include on our itinerary?

The Santorini Palace has wonderful sunset views.
The best overall sunset/caldera views are from the cliffs in Imerovigli but most hotels will be closed then. When you ask for hotel recommendations but don't tell us your maximum daily budget we can't effectively help you. Use the filter system at http://www.booking.com to see what will be available to you on your travel date within your budget parameters. Don't be surprised if you can't see a sunset in December. The chances of clouds, rain and overcast skies are very good. If that's the case indoor activities are your best option. Check the Museum of Prehistoric Thera and the archaeological site of Akrotiri, which is under a protective roof covering.

We had a large balcony/patio that had tables and chairs.
We sat there every evening watching the sunset.
They provided a lovely breakfast delivered to our patio each morning
at the times we requested.
Hope this hotel is open in December - since it is in the main town on the main street,
I think it may be.

I just clicked on the link, and their webpage says they are open all year.
We stayed at 'Apartments Gaby' in September a few years ago & witnessed amazing sunsets right from our window!
Our small apartment was very reasonable, clean & comfortable.
The owner, Katerina, was very nice & helpful.
I don't know if they are open in December due to weather, etc...
