Is it better to return to Piraeus from Nafplio to get to Hydra or from Nafplio get to Hydra via Toro?
Also, is there a boat that goes from Crete to Santorini? If so, how long is the trip?

If you mean going through Toro del Mar, obviously this is not a good option because whatever happens, unless you want to swim to Hydra you will have to go to the port of Piraeus which is closer to Nafplio.

Piraeus is NOT the only way to get to Hydra, but certainly the most convenient. There are also ferries from Porto Heli and Ermioni (both near Nafplio). Google those options to see if they work better for you than returning all the way to Piraeus. Also consider how you are getting to whichever ferry port you choose, because there are (obviously) no car ferries to Hydra.
I am not familiar with anywhere in Greece called "Toro."
