Best Acropolis view hotel?

Anyone with recommendations for a very nice hotel, as close as possible to the Acropolis, maybe even with junior suites? My wife has had some back/knee surgeries and I'd like to minimize the distance to the Acropolis. (we hope to be able to use the elevator for disabled people to get up there)

We stayed at the AthensWas Design Hotel which was only a couple of blocks from the Acropolis on a shady pedestrian street. We loved the location and our suite was spacious with a balcony. It is also next to the Fresko yogurt shop where the Athens Walking tours meet to begin their tour of the Acropolis. We would recommend this hotel and also the early morning tour of the Acropolis.

I don't know if you can stay closer to an Acropolis entrance than Hotel Phaedra (https://hotelphaedra.com/). 3 minute walk to the southeast ticket gate of the Acropolis. The balconies on the corner rooms have an amazing view of the flag end of the Acropolis, particularly at night when its lit up.

The hotel is also right in the heart of the Plaka, which we really enjoyed.

Its a budget hotel, but well up to RS standards. You will find nicer hotels, but I doubt you'll find a better location. We really enjoyed it.

Darren, Paul is looking for "very nice" but not our definition -- they probably want a big lobby, uniformed staff, deluxe furnishings ... wouldn't go for the modest charms we appreciate at the dear, family-run Phaedra. Let's let them go to other well-situated hotels more upscale -- Those with good views nearby include Hotel Herodion, Hotel Hera, Hotel Airotel, and as noted, Athens Was. Let's spare the space at Phaedra for our fellow budgeteers.

As for trying to spare his wife the climb to the Acropolis, I deeply honor his intent, and hope he is successful. In the past, the use of the elevator required advance application & approval, I think maybe even a dr's letter ... it isn't used just for those of us with creaky joints. In any case, you'd need to email well in advance, and make an appt. for use of the device, so it will be manned... and then check AGAIN, a couple of days in advance, to mke sure nothing has changed... and then check the day before, prior to5 pm, to make sure AGAIN. This lift has been trouble-prone in the past... this year I heard they were trying to "improve" the egress at the top of it but -- in these times, who knoweth?? Best of luck... and just in case, pack a couple of handy light-weight foldable (z-format) walkng sticks, available on Amazon in short (women's) lengths for a very decent price. Found them useful before my knee surgery.

Actually, I guess I should have been more explicit. "Very nice" for us need not be opulent or posh. We simply need good firm beds, clean, free Wi-Fi, friendly staff, etc. Definitely need a room though that accommodates 3 adults, so at least double & twin beds, suite, or something like that. If a good breakfast can be included, all the better. Also, of course, since my wife has trouble to going up and down lots of stairs, an elevator is a must!

The last time my wife and I were in Athens (a few years ago) we had no problems getting to use the Acropolis elevator. Didn't need a reservation or anything like that. We simply showed up, presented the letter from her orthopedic surgeon, and they let us on.

Thank you to all people commenting so far!

Phaedra has an elevator so that would work, but you did not previously say 3 (specifics are helpful). I believe all of Phaedra's rooms are just doubles witha few singles... but the other places should suit; all have elevators. Unless you'd be willing to do TWO rooms ... at the Phaedra room rate it would be about same as 1 rm for others. Is the 3rd party someone who cannot be in a separate room?

As to the elevator, glad to hear you had no problem beng admitted before ... tho since Idid read about the repair/improvement, it wold be good to check anyway.

We stayed 5 nights at the lovely Hotel Hera, several years ago. www.herahotel.gr It is an 8 min. walk to the Acropolis. It does have junior suites with views of the Acropolis as well as stunning views from their rooftop Peacock restaurant and bar. It has an elevator. It had a wonderful breakfast, accommodating staff & ample sized rooms. Best of all the hotel was 2 minutes from Mani Mani, our favorite restaurant. We would stay at Hotel Hera again.

I second Janis' recommendation. I have steered many people there in the past 3 years or so, and all have reported fine experiences
