My trip is coming up in mid September. We will be on a cruise, I would like to swim in one of the beaches with easy access from the port. I read that Rhodes, Ellie Beach is accessible easily from the port, is this correct?
You have a computer, you have a month, you can get your answer in 30 seconds ... or you can ask us. here's the Google Map of Rhodes Old Town/New Town - https://www.google.com/maps/search/rhodes+old+town+greece/@36.4435096,28.2186245,16.06z?hl=en&entry=ttu YOur cruise ship probabl will dock at the MIDDLE pier shown... and passenger will enter Old CIty at th nearest Wall gate. Elli Beach is at EAST side of the topmost point of New City); the name's in greek but ifyou touch it, you see a photo of the beach. There is another beach marked "Paralia elli" on the NW side of this point, but in September there are very strong winds (meltemi) coming from NW,
YOu can fight for a taxi at the pier ... or you can book "Welcome Pickups" https://www.welcomepickups.com -- you can specify where u will arrive, the day/time and destnationa (Elli Beach) and they'll state the fare & you pay that w credit card .. and the driver will meet you at the pier with a placarde with your name. No fuss, no bother. I'd recommend you have a one-way ride, have your beach time, if you wish, you can then find the local bus stop to get you back to the "tourist gate" of Old Town with enough time to stroll around. OR, if you decide to hail a taxi, you'll already know what the fare from beach - Old Town is, and inform the driver as you enter -- thus, no monkey business.
Thank you, great map!
