Our cruise ended in Athens and we were looking for a RickSteves type back door tour of areas outside of Athens. After researching, I came across Alternative Athens 5 day tour. They picked us up from the ship and we have gone to Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, and Meteora, with several back door experiences along the way (hike to a waterfall, bee farm, bell maker, tanner, food tour, wine tasting, to name just a few). Entrance fees and museum admissions are included. The hotels have been lovely with breakfast’s included, and all lunches as well, all at cute back door restaurants with delicious food. I highly recommend this company if you are looking for a back door experience that also includes many archeological sites as well.
