Athens Transport to Airport

In 2006 my husband and I took the x95 Bus from Athens to the airport because the Metro did not open until 5:30. I can only find stale information on the Web. Has anyone taken this transportation recently so I know I can count on it? If my flight ends up later in the morning, I may rely on the Metro. I'd like to have both options. I'm traveling in November, 2026.
Thanks.

Athens Airport Buses

Athens International Airport is connected to all the major hubs of Athens via numerous bus lines. To start with, 4 lines of OASA public buses conveniently transfer passengers from Athens Airport to Athens city, at a 24-hour basis. Explicitly:

Bus X93 (Athens Airport – Kifissos KTEL): This is the bus route connecting Athens Airport to the Intercity Bus Station. The route lasts approximately 65 minutes and buses depart from the airport every 40 minutes.
Bus X95 (Athens Airport – Syntagma Square): When Athens center is the final destination, Bus X95 is the right route for you. Syntagma Square is the most central area of the city. Taking Bus X95 will get you there in about 60 minutes.
Bus X96 (Athens Airport – Piraeus Port): Bus X96 connects Athens Airport to Piraeus Port, the biggest Greek port and your destination if you are going to visit the famous Greek islands. The bus takes about 90 minutes to reach the port. It has available routes every 20-25 minutes.
Bus X97 (Athens Airport – Elliniko Metro Station): This route’s final stop is the Elliniko Metro Station during the day and Dafni Metro Station during the nighttime. Buses leave the airport every 40-60 minutes while their journey lasts 45 minutes.

The X95 bus is still in service and its stop is still in the same place in Syntagma Square.

The fare is €5.50 per trip. What's new is that you can now simply tap your contactless credit card on the validator on the bus to pay for your ticket (Visa or Mastercard only). You can also use Apple Pay, Google Pay or similar apps.

The Metro Line 3 timetable for the airport is still almost the same, except that it now runs later on weekends and, compared to 2016, the line has been extended to Piraeus.
