Is there a train that goes to Naufplio from Athens and also can anyone recommend a hotel.
Don’t think there’s a train, but I can recommend the Grand Sarai Hotel -http://www.grandsarainafplio.com/eng/
Lovely hotel, great location, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast! I’d stay there again in a heartbeat!

As far as I know you have two options: bus or rent a car. The bus is relatively easy and the ride takes about 2+ hours. Renting car gives you more options and you can use it once you get to Nafplio to explore the area.
I stayed at Hotel Leto several years ago and the owner at that time (George and his family) were wonderful and the accommodations were great. However, I have heard there are new owners and it's not the same anymore.
There are lots of other options and hopefully someone can recommend a place to stay.
We went from Athens by bus for two nights, an easy trip. I investigated renting a car but it was too much hassle for us, and we had seen major sights around the town years ago so skipped the car. I can heartily recommend the Hotel Aetoma. Our room was quite large and comfortable and had a small balcony, where we were served tea and cakes upon arrival. We were impressed! Breakfast was huge...really. When we left, she gave us directions to the bus station and explained how to metro back to our hotel in Athens. 20 minutes later her son found us waiting on a bench for the bus; mom had sent him to be sure we had understood her directions. Doesn’t get much better I think. A lovely town to wander and stroll. Safe travels.
Buses leave from Terminal A at 100, Kiffisiou station. They stop at the Elonas metro station (west of Monastiraki) as well. Details on the web site of the KTEL Argolida.
