We are arriving in Athens in the afternoon on a Saturday in June from Naxos and spending Sunday and Monday in Athen then flying back to the US on Tuesday. My travel friends would like to add a tour to Delphi. After reading Rick Steves Athens's pocketbook, I am wondering if we should do the RS walking tour on our own on Sunday and the Parthenon on Monday early morning. Realistically, is there time for a trip out to Delphi?
While Delphi is an amazing trip, you only have two days in Athens ( which is really one day shorter than you need) so just stay in Athens and visit all the antiquities in the central area. Once you get the Greece bug you will likely return and Delphi will still be there.
Here is what Athens is like. We did all this without a tour guide (over several visits)

I would agree with Stanbr. We had three nights like you in Athens. It was enough to see the highlights. We went again to Greece last May and went this time to Delphi. I enjoyed it very much but still would not wanted to do it on one of the few days we were in Athens. You just can’t do every thing on one trip.
I am going to follow your advice and scratch Delphi from the itinerary. Yes, for another time perhaps. Great photos stanbr. Thank you for sharing.
