I've found these forums incredibly helpful planning our first trip to Greece. Well, my husband did the usual Santorini and islands exploration in his early 20's, but this is the first time for me, to celebrate my 60th birthday, and first time for my 20 yr old daughter, who is majoring in History/Classics. We are travelling in the last week of April, first week of May in 2025, and will be there for 8.5 days (arrival at 11:00 am in Athens).
I'm looking for feedback on the following tentative itinerary, particularly the drive from Napflio to Delphi. I've tried to concentrate the driving portion to one section of the trip as we plan on renting a car. I've heard that renting from the Airport is best because of the location, but if there is any other advice regarding car rentals, it is appreciated.
ARRIVAL DAY

DAY 4
Rent car. Take all day to drive to/from Cape Sounian, stopping at beaches, etc along the coastal highway. Temple of Poseidon.
DAY 5
Rental car to Corinth, Mycenae. Arrive in Napflio.
DAY 6
Rental car to Epidaurus. 2nd night in Napflio.
DAY 7
Rental car to Delphi. Too long? 4plus hours? which route - back towards Athens or along coast of Corinthian Gulf? Worth it if simply arriving to accommodation and saving exploration for next day?
DAY 7
Rental car to Delphi ruins and museum. 2nd night in/around Delphi.
DAY 8
Rental car to Athens. (2.5 hr) drop off rental car. Last Athens evening/accommodation.
DAY 9
Flight departs at 10 am.
Any advice regarding wisdom/timing of this, things to see in Napflio/Delphi/Athens, or accommodation is greatly appreciated. I want to lock in dates enough to book accommodations in Athens, Napflio and Delphi soon! I'm trying to balance the ancient ruins with some quieter down time, time to check out beaches (for my 20 yr old, though it will be cooler at that time) and a bit of shopping (again, even with her interest in Classical History, she's 20, lol).
Thanks in advance!
