Hi - new to forum. my 17 year old daughter and i will be flying from Paros to Athens in early afternoon and staying overnight for flight home next a.m. just got my RS book but wondered which hotel would be good for rooftop deck for view and close walking to sites, and good transportation to airport in a.m. ?

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Hera. It has a lovely roof top view of the Acropolis. Centrally located, few minutes from Mars Hill, and Acropolis. Our favorite restaurant is Mani Mani and is 5 minutes from the hotel. We ate their three times, including our last evening with our RS Tour group. Requires reservations. The "360 Degrees Hotel" may interest you, it meets all your criteria.
It has a rooftop restaurant bar overlooking the Acropolis.
It is located at Monastiraki Square. From Monastiraki metro station you are 45 minutes from the airport.
The Monastiraki square being very lively, even in the evening, the problem may be the noise if you have a room that overlooks the square.

Close to Monastraki is Attalos hotel. It is a tourist class hotel with pretty good prices and has a roof top bar with spectacular views of the Acropolis.
We have stayed there on most of our visits to Athens.

Athens Capital Center Hotel---M Gallery.
Rooftop pool, bar and restaurant. One block to Syntagma Square and the changing of the guard.
I was there last week and will be returning for one night next week prior to my flight out.
I used Welcome Pickups for my drive from the airport to the hotel and will use them again for my return. Same price as a cab but you pay online and get an English speaking driver. They tell you who it is and give you the vehicle information.

I always stay at the Attalos Hotel. Clean, safe, central location, wonderful rooftop bar with views of the Acropolis and Athens.
Close to everything one goes to Athens for and budget friendly prices.
You can use the bus, Metro or taxi to get to the airport depending on what time you need to be there.

Take a look at the Omiros Hotel at 15 Apollonos Street. It's 2 blocks from the Blue Line Airport Metro at Syntagma Square, one block from the Plaka. Breakfast included and there's a rooftop deck for a view of the Parthenon.

Lots of hotels near the Acropolis have roof decks, not surprisingly. We liked the Herodion on the south side, very close to the Acropolis Museum, lots of restaurants within a few blocks.
