Athens ,Greece September 10-14th hotels

I am having difficulty deciding on hotels in Athens, I know some of the neighborhoods are not the safest, we do plan on doing lots of walking all around and into the evenings. I had booked the Wyndham then cancelled due to the neighborhood. I am told the the Syntagma Square area and Acropolis area are very nice. I have looked at dozens of hotels ( on booking.com and Trivago) some of the reviews are just terrible and for 5 star hotel ratings.
Can anyone recommend a hotel that they have stayed at and enjoyed. So far from my research the Crowne Plaza is looking good. I was hoping to stay closer to the square as am told that is a nice neighborhood.

Best Regards

I don't think of Syntagma as "nice", more like convenient since it's central to everything in Athens. It's a very busy section of the city. The area between the Akropoli Metro Station and the Acropolis Museum is nice, as well as quiet.

I have been 2x recently, last trip was spring 2017. I can recom 3 hotels in vgd areas yet close to alot of sights ea at a diff price level.. Hotel Hera a small boutique style, Acropolis Select mid range hotel about 1.5 blocks from Hera and Hotel Royal Olympic classic 5 star elegant beauty (Visit rooftop dining / bar for stunning views) about 2 blocks from the others.
May I also suggest u ck out a poss. meal at one of my favorite casual restaurant ManhManh very close to hotels I post.

I really enjoyed the Hera Hotel this spring. It is convenient, but just 1/2 a block removed from all the restaurants across from the Acropolis Metro station exit and the museum. I walked to everything I wanted to see. The Peacock Restaurant on the top floor has a wonderful view of the Acropolis lit up at night, and the food was the best I had in Greece, essentially.
