Athens, Delphi, and Hydra hotel recommendations

I will be traveling to Greece for a field school this summer, and I am trying to plan time to sightsee before and after the school.

I plan to stay in Athens at the end of June for 3 days before the school, and then see Delphi and Hydra as well as Athens on the second leg when I have 6 to 7 days before leaving Greece.

I am looking to find hotels - especially in Athens - that are relatively simple, in a safe neighborhood of the city, and offer private rooms with their own bathroom. I am definitely hoping to be within "walking distance" of major attractions.

This is my first time travelling abroad alone and I would love any guidance or suggestions anyone can offer on picking a decently priced place in a safe neighborhood. Thank you in advance!

In Athens we pretty much always stay in the Attalos. It’s just outside Plaka, the main tourist area near around the sites, but comfortable and reasonably priced. A couple of places to consider inside Plaka are the Phaedra and the Tempi. These are both family run in older buildings and have more character.

You might also want to look at the Student and Travellers Inn. I’ve never stayed there but walk past it often and it looks fine and is in a nice street. It may be cheaper than the others mentioned.

In Delphimweve stayed several times at the Acropole Delphi Hotel. Comfortable mid priced with amazing views. Actually, pretty much anywhere in Delphi has amazing views!

Have a great trip

I also stay at the Attalos Hotel on Athinas St. It's close to everything one goes to Athens for and is safe, clean and reasonably priced.

I'm a Phaedra fan ... great rates, and I like that area better, closer to attractions, and Attalos is not on as attractive a street... noisier area, more graffiti, motorcycles, traffic. Also, Phaedra has rooftop terrace whre you can bring your own food, beverages etc... Attalos roof u need to buy a beverage for the view. However, Phaedra is smaller (only 21 rooms) and if you are only booking now for June & July it probably is fully booked ... maybe because I've been praising it for years on several of these Forums (my bad).
