Athens crowds in early October?

During the first week of October, will the Acropolis be super crowded by mid-morning? Or if we see other sites first and hit the Acropolis later, will the crowds be manageable since it is not the height of tourist season? How important is it to make the Acropolis our first stop to avoid crowds that time of year? Thank you!

The best time to go to the Acropolis regardless of when you go is at opening time, 8 a.m.

Even October will have crowds including tourists and tour groups.

While not as over-the-top crowded as summer it will still get crowds.

An alternative is late afternoon when most tourists & tour groups have left.

Early morning is more tranquil and cooler.

That's what I suspected and it is helpful to have my suspicion confirmed. We will plan accordingly. Thank you!

In October I would pick 8:15 in AM ... at 5 pm at night, already near dusk.

As others have said, hit the acropolis early in the day as it gets very crowded. I've been there in late Sep and Aug and it isn't nearly as bad, but there will be lots of tourists still until about beginning of about November.

Areas such as the Roman Agoura and the hills around the Acropolis can just be walked at your Leasure and sometimes are nice in the late afternoon. Areas like Plaka around the Acropolis will probably be a bit crowded as the day wears on but probably won't be terrible that time of year.

It will still probably be hot in October (I will be there this year as well myself) as well and the Acropolis is like a giant hot rock radiating heat!
