Athens arrival at 3am, Sartorini flight at 6am

Hi,
We arrive in Athens from Chicago via London at 3am and then fly to Santorini at 6am on a seperate airline. Is 3 hours enough time to go through customs and catch our next flight?
Thanks,
Darrin

Assuming you're both arriving and departing at Heathrow (LHR), their website has a wonderful connection tool. Put in ALL your details, and it will tell you the exact steps involved and the estimated time. Key word, of course, is "estimated" - no guarantees. http://www.heathrowairport.com/heathrow-airport-guide/flight-connections/connection-guides

EDIT: I see I gave a great answer - to a completely different question than the one darrinmy asked! Sorry.

Harold, Thanks for the reply, I must not have been clear. We are getting into Athens at 3am from an international flight and have a flight to Santorini at 6am. Is this enough time to retrieve baggage, clear customs and check in to the new flight? Thanks, Darrin

Though not in the wee hours of the morning, we recently made a similar connection arriving in Athens from SFO via Amsterdam, then flew to Santorini. 3 hours is plenty of time. You are in for a wonderful trip!

Hello Darrinmy. 3 hours is way more than enough time. And, assuming you're flying on to Santorini using Aegean Airlines or Olympic Air, you can go to their websites 48 hours in advance of your 6am departure to Santorini and print out your boarding passes. This way you don't have to wait in line at a ticket counter. Then after you've collected your luggage from the carousel in the Arrivals Hall just go upstairs to the luggage dropoff point before showing your passes to enter the Secure Departure Area.

Darrinmy: Sorry about that! I did indeed misunderstand your question. I've left my answer up in case it can help anyone else, but I'm glad you got the information you needed.

Remember it will only work if you are awake.

How will you do it?

darin,

Yes, three hours for a connection in Athens should work fine, assuming your flights from the U.S. and London are both on time. Is your flight to Santorini on Aegean or Olympic? I believe you'll go through Passport control in London, but one of the others will have to confirm that.

Upon arrival in Santorini, there should be a Taxi waiting, even at 06:00. At the end of that journey, I'm sure you'll be anxious to get to your hotel for a rest!
