Athens - Acropolis View vs Attalos?

I am looking for a hotel room for three nights in April for three (one 9 year old). I was all set to book Acropolis View, but I wondered if we'd be better off in a slightly more central location (Attalos), though I recognize the former sets us up well for the site and museum. Budget: I'm trying to stay around 200. Thanks for any suggestions either way. (Looked into Hera, but that's currently running $415 a night and Zillers is around $500 a night.)

I stayed at Acropolis View Hotel in October and loved it. The location was actually very convenient. Many locations are walkable and the Acropolis metro station is just a 5 minute walk away. The pedestrian street in front of the Acropolis is 2 blocks away. The front desk is especially helpful.

I would cheerfully stay there again.

I booked the Attalos hotel, based on the good reviews here, for three nights prior to joining the RS Greece tour which was using the Hera hotel. We actually liked the Attalos better. We walked to Syntagma Square, the Forum, and Monistiraki square is just down the street. When we took a cab to the Hera to join the tour we realized how close we were, and felt we could have walked, even with our bags. It was clean, quiet, and has a rooftop bar you can see the Acropolis from. The staff was also helpful, and polite.

I have no experience with these hotels since I only stay in short term rentals when I am in Athens.

From a location point of view they are both well located.

The advantage of the Acropolis View is that it is close to the South entrance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.
On Friday mornings there is a nice farmer's market on Zacharitsa Street, a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

But if I had to choose, and for a first time in Athens, I would much prefer to be in Attalos which is more central, in a more lively and typically Athenian area (not necessarily relaxing), close to the Psyri district, the Athens Central Market, Monastiraki square, Flea market, etc.
In short with lots things to see.

We stayed at the Athens Cypria Hotel in spring 2022, booked through Expedia I think. Short walk from Syntagma metro, great view of the Acropolis. We walked pretty much everywhere - to the Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, the Roman Forum, the Agora, etc. It's in the shopping district, so lots of shops and restaurants. Rates should be under $200, depending on dates and room size.

We stayed at the Attalos Hotel in 2022 and enjoyed it very much. We have no complaints. It is well located, and we particularly enjoyed the Psyri neighborhood right by it for eating. We had a room with a balcony, but the rooftop bar was where we spent the most time outside. We are booking the Attalos Hotel again for a pre-cruise night in 2025. Will save a few bucks by not booking a balcony room since we know we will end up on the rooftop.

I assume you’ve checked availability at the Attalos? I’ve just tried for a couple of dates in late March and early April and they were fully booked some nights.

Have a look at Phaedra Hotel (https://hotelphaedra.com/).

Its a budget hotel but quite comfortable. Fantastic location (view of the Acropolis, in the midst of the Plaka / Syntagma / Olympian Zeus / Panathinaikos.
