Family of 4, have a 6 am flight out of ATH, looking for hotel with free shuttle that can sleep 4 in 1 room (the Softiel and Holiday Inn can only accommodate 3 and would require us booking 2 rooms which is very pricey despite the tempting convenience).
1. Any hotel recommendations that will include a 4 am shuttle and can sleep a family in 1 room? We'd also prefer not to pay for a breakfast that we will be leaving too early to eat.
2. Advice on what time we should be at the airport for a 6 am flight to Amsterdam? We are NOT checking bags at least.

I know of two hotel options apart from the Sofitel which is practical but overpriced:
Hotel Avra in Rafina.
Located about 20 minutes from the airport.
It has quadruple rooms without breakfast from around €150 to €200 (depending on the time of year). A free shuttle every hour from 3am. By taking the 3am one, you will be in the airport around 3:30 am. The 4am shuttle may be too late for you even if you are flying to Amsterdam located in the Schengen area (no immigration control)

Also located near the airport (10 minutes).
They have quadruple rooms too.
A little cheaper and less modern than the Avra hotel.
There is an extra €10 charge if you take the shuttle to the airport at night (and €5 if you check out before 6:30 am).
Breakfast is included, I don't know if you can get a cheaper rate in case you don't take it.
If you arrive the day before:
Around the Avra hotel you will find in the center of Rafina or at the port 2 minutes walk from the hotel, a lot of restaurants where to dine.
At the Peris hotel there is no such facility. Nearest restaurants are approximately 1 mi from the hotel
In both cases, when you book the room specify at what time you will take the shuttle.

thank you for this helpful reply! we booked the Avra Rafina as they actually offered a better rate with not having to pay for breakfast or pay extra for an early shuttle, and we like that they have nearby restaurants as we won't have a car.
