Has anyone ever stayed here? I am trying to decide between this hotel and the Kalergis Studios, which I believe are directly next to Asteria.
Both have excellent locations ... I think the main differentc may be that Kalergis units have a kitchenette corner or nook. so that you can fix your own breakfast, and sit on your balcony in your PJs to greet the day, whereas I think Asteria guests may have to go downstairs to cafe ... however haven't checked in a long time they may now offer i n-room coffeemakers (all beach hotels do have mini-fridges).
Other considerations;
• VIEW - All the Kalergis units face the sea; am not sure about Asteria; good to enquire.
• SUNBEDS - this factor, alas, has changed, since Naxos has been "discovered", with record crowds & resulting price-rises. In the past, I know that friends staying at Kalergis had free use of its sunbeds, whereas nonguests (lilke me) back in may 2019 paid €7-8 for a sunbed & shared-use of umbrella ... I hear that in 2023, Ag. GIorgios some hotel's sunbeds cost a shocking €30 or so per pair (the €€€€ at outer beaches were even worse!!) ... I also read that Kalergis guests were not free, but got a discount. Have no idea what Asteria arrangements were and are, but these days, definitely worth asking the specifics for both!
Thanks very much for the info! I think we are going to take our chances with Hotel Asteria since they can accommodate our group of 4 (myself and 3 adult kids) in one room and the Kalergis Studios family room is booked so we would need to rent 2 rooms there. We are traveling at the end of September - beginning of October so I will be sure to review this hotel for others in the future.
eleanor, for the future, it's thoughtful to give the full details, which you did only after I posted.... for all we knew, you were a honeymoon couple. If you give relevant facts up front (i.e. parent & 3 adult sibs AND budget is important) we can understand your needs, and it saves time/effort for both. ... We are experienced travelers, but cannot read minds. In any case, glad you have 2 good choices... and your group will definitely enjoy Naxos with the crowds of high season gone. (Another tip; it helps to say WHEN; that can also affect advice, especially since Naxos has crowded up).
