Has anyone stayed at The Central Hotel at 21, Apollonos Street (near or in Plaka) in the last few years? This hotel has great recommendations on the Internet, but looking for a more personal recommendation. Going in late October (this month, 2021).
On Booking.com, reviews are verified. It's a fine location.
I am hoping someone who reads this forum has stayed there. Thanks!
Michelle, my wife and I stayed at the Athens Central Hotel for 3 nights in Sep 2018. Excellent location near the airport bus (95?) stop and close to many of the main sights. Great staff, really nice room, and one of the best breakfasts ever. Restaurant was very good but better for snacks and drinks with a view. On our return from RS Turkey tour a month later, we stayed at the well recommended Athens Pan Hotel - very good but not in same class as the Central Hotel. We WILL stay there again when we return to Athens.

Thank you! That is the info I was hoping to get.
We had a great stay in Sep 2018. We had a smallish room, with a direct view of the Acropolis lite up at night, per my request. The Acropolis is on top of a hill so the view while complete was not huge but it was special. The very affordable refined rooftop bar has an even better view and was very pleasant. The location in general is central, safe and near recommended restaurants and sites. The front desk is helpful setting up taxis. The breakfast was good in a complete but simple way. We returned a week later and had a larger room with a view of the street. You cannot call the hotel glamorous but I can definitely recommend it and Athens.
Karen, thank you for the info!
