Anyone home in Santorini?

Hello all, love my visits to the Rick Steves' TF because it means a trip is in the works. We are a family of 6, traveling to Greece May 27 - Jun 4. Celebrating the last son graduating college so everyone is an adult.

We are five nights in Athens, Ava Suites for location and the little room kitchens. No issues with communicating with the hotel in Athens. Love the location having been to Athens before, albeit long before the aforesaid family was born (Janet, thanks for the Orange map link on another thread!)

However, I have been working on the Santorini piece. No one answers the hotel phones, none of my "contact us" emails have had a response. I assume it is me, but I checked spam, refreshed iPhone tutorial on calling Greece, all good.

Perhaps Santorini closes down a bit in January? Or is it Covid related?

Thanks so much!

Santorini is closed down A LOT in January. Most shops, galleries, restaurants, bars, cafes and hotels are closed by November and don't re-open until just before Greek Easter weekend, which is April 23-24 this year. You might try using a 3rd-party booking service such as www.booking.com to see what they have to offer.

Marie: try costamarina.gr. A small pension in Fira, Santorini. We stayed in the quad room with loft & balcony in 2018 - very nice. No kitchen but small refer. Very quiet with a view opposite the caldera. Breakfast offered. The owner's daughter, Marina, was living on site at that time. It's about a ½ mi walk into touristy part of town; closer to bus station, grocery, coffee & good bakery.
