Anniversary dinner in Hydra May 18

My husband and I will be on a RS tour May 8-21 and our 52nd anniversary will be on the 18th. I have to admit this somewhat didn’t dawn on us until recently. So we don’t need upscale but a nice meal would be nice. Maybe a little more than a gyro after a busy day perhaps? Are there any recommendations anyone could share? Looks like it’s a laid back sort of vibe in Hydra.

The itinerary description does seem to be a bit different than when we took the tour. There was a group dinner one of the nights when we did the tour.

I am sure the guide can give you some suggestions. There seemed to be no shortage of places to eat

I thought I’d take a shot at a couple more responses. We leave on Thursday. I’m sure the RS guide, Ionna Papacosta, will be able to recommend something and if we need to reserve ahead. Hoping for no Covid, sunshine, great food and happy typical RS tour companions 🌞.

It's been a long time, but when we were on Hydra, we walked to Mandraki (about 1 km from Hydra town) and ate in a restaurant overlooking the harbor. It was spectacular, with a lovely view of the sunset. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the restaurant and it's possible it's no longer there, but you could do a search. It would be a wonderful place for an anniversary dinner.

Nancy, thanks for the reply. I checked google maps and the only 2 restaurants/tavernas that show up in Mandraki are on the bay. They look very nice however so maybe still an option.

We were just in Hydra with our RS tour group. My wife and I along with another couple enjoyed a dinner at the Veranda restaurant. It has a lovely view over the town. Every dish we ordered was excellent. The meal started off with warm, fresh rolls served with olive tapenade. I had the sea bass served on wild greens and chickpeas. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Thanks Dean, y’all must have been on the tour just before ours I’d guess. Unfortunately even after masking everywhere inside my husband tested positive for Covid in the morning after our overnight in Delphi. Very disappointing end to what was going to be a great tour. We are back home now and will have to wait until next year if we try it again.
