I have been asked to house sit on Andros Island for 6 weeks. Has anyone on here been there before? If so has anyone heard of Kirtasai? I can't find it on Google maps. Any knowledge or tips regarding staying on Andros welcome please.
Six weeks on Andros would be stepping back in time, to Bahamas of yesteryear. We spent a week on the north Island in 2008 and it was big, almost empty, wild and very, very peaceful. We experienced a couple nights in funky and very simple harbor town, with one excellent restaurant/bar. Then a couple nights in the northern tip at a surreal homestay/hotel with empty beach nearby. And then a few nights in paradise at Small Hope Bay with fantastic scuba diving, I think only available to guests. Touring the whole island would take about a week, so be prepared to have a very, very relaxed time. People are wonderful. food is simple and excellent and it's very, very tranquil.
Macforest - I think you're confusing the Bahamanian Andros (which I've visited, and are lovely), with the Greek island of the same name. (Which I've heard of, but know nothing about.)
I was on Andros for 4 days. It was OK, parts of it I liked others were just so-so.
However, if you have the opportunity to house sit on any Greek Island then you are very fortunate!
I didn't find any mention of Kirtasai. The only towns that starts with a "K" are Ormos Korthiou and Korthi (not sure if they are the same)
Andros is our favourite Greek island: green, scenic, friendly people, excellent swimming and walking and very few tourists. It’s also fairly easy to reach - 2 hours from the port of Rafina which is only 30 minutes by bus from the airport. We’ve been there a dozen times over the years and will be back in September, Covid permitting.
Having said that I’ve never heard of Kirtasai. Are you sure you have the spelling right? Transliterating from Greek is not an exact science! I tried googling various Greek spellings and had no luck.
We always stay in Chora, the main town. It has an old fashioned pedestrianised main street and two excellent beaches. Obviously if you’re house sitting you won’t have a choice of where you are but there’s a reliable, if not always frequent, bus service around a lot of the island.
The only reason I can imagine for not saying yes would be if the house was really remote and you can’t afford to hire a car. Otherwise I’d jump at the chance.

You should request more information about this proposal.
personally I am surprised by this locality name "Kirtasai" which does not exist on Andros and which means nothing in Greek.
Thank you for your responses. I have been told that the place mentioned s so small which is why it's not on the map. I looked and couldn't find it on Google maps. My friend is out there now so I don't have any qualms about safety etc. It is quite remote so I will be doing a lot of walking but taxis are also available. Thanks again.
Too funny, when I logged out of the thread I noticed the country line of Greece and went ott-oh, maybe got that one wrong. I'm traveling now with limited screen time but now have fears confirmed, same name for island - Andros - wrong country - Bahamas. Sorry to flub it but maybe James you can pioneer trips to both islands. Six weeks on an island in Greece should be fabulous.
