Ancient Athens 3D virtual tour and other useful information

For those who are planning to visit Athens (or have already visited) and are interested in what Athens was like in the 5th century BC, I recommend this video published by Ancient Athens 3D.

And if you go to Athens with your kids, a good way to prepare them for what they are going to see

Tons of historical information about sites and monuments are also available on the 100% non-commercial Ancient Athens 3D website

joLui -- thanks thanks thanks for these wonderful websites! SO terrific in involving people and making Athens more meaningful! I always tell people I advise, Athens has been waiting for you for at least 2500 years, please give it a few days to show you its treasures... As for you, wicked person, you have sabotaged my To-Do List for the afternoon!

Sorry Janet for disturbing your Sunday. :))

As a wicked person, I will also mention this new (free) virtual reality application offered by Cosmote and developed with the Greek Ministry of Culture, available on Google Play and Apple Store

To be used during the visit to the Acropolis, or the Acropolis Museum (or from anywhere in the world), which allows you to walk around the Acropolis as it was in the 5th century BC

It's supposed to also have a guided audio tour, but I haven't tried it myself so I don't know what it's worth.
