He's not the only one. There is a Dutch tourist who is missing and a UK man was found dead a few days ago. Authorities are warning people of the high heat in the Greek islands right now.

Plus 4 more too. Heat. It is 90+ every day in Athens and Nafplio going out to the 24th. That is as far as my weather app showed.
Last September we used our umbrellas in Japan the heat was so bad.

Umbrellas are wonderful to have. I used mine in Mexico. Most women there don't wear hats but use umbrellas when walking as it keeps more of the sun off you.

Also best to always have water with you and stay hydrated.

Dutch tourist found dead yesterday.

Another American tourist who was missing on the island of Mathraki was found dead and two French women on vacation on the island of Sikinos who went hiking have been missing since yesterday.

Umbrellas are wonderful to have.

The umbrella is not really an appropriate accessory for hiking. In Greece, the world record for distance covered while hiking with an umbrella before it was destroyed by the wind is 47 meters.

Tip.....if you do decide to go out in these type of temperatures, and want to wear a hat, make sure that hat has holes near the top. That will let heat out and prevent it from collecting between your scalp and the hat.

I learned this the hard way.

I've also used the cooling towels/bandanas that you soak in water and wear around your neck. Surprisingly, they help.

I've also tried wearing a neck fan. Didn't do much.

We hiked from Fia to Oia on Santorini last Monday. It took 3.5 hours to complete the 7+ mile hike in very direct sunlight. Between my wife and I, we both carried 3 liters of water and used it. If you are not prepared for the heat and terrain, you could lose your balance and fall several hundred feet on some of these islands.

Only a Texan could accomplish this! I would have turned back after a half hour

It was mentioned at the church which is at the halfway at the highest elevation. Decided to keep going since it was more or less downhill. A cold beer in Oia helped ease the pain and suffering.
