Our flight from the US to athens gets in around 830 at night. Are the taxicabs safe to take us to our rental air bnb or would it be better and cheaper to arrange a ride to pick us at the airport. I have heard welcome cabs as a good company. Does anyone have any experience with these people

Have you checked the airport website? There are even reliable buses that can take you from the airport. Or the metro system. Much cheaper than a taxi.

Thank you, I have luggage with me and also i am thinking that by the time, i get out , it will probably be around 10 or so. Is that time safe to take public transport?
Consider that passengers on the bus from the airport are travelers just like you (with luggage)...do you consider that safe enough? You should ask your Airbnb host on how to make the connection to the rental unit if you opt to take the bus or metro.
