AirBNB recs for Athens July

Hi All,
Am taking a cruise out of Athens in July. We would like to have 3 days prior to the cruise the explore Athens. I enjoy staying in neighborhoods where I can walk to sites but still feel like I'm in the community. Is this possible in Athens like it is in Florence or Rome? If so, any recommendations?

I have not done airbnb or vrbo in Greece... and I have seen feedback on some forums about problems with check-in/check-out times for them, and also refund for cancellations or changes. booking dot com these days ALSO has pvt rooms/apts available in Central Athens, in good locations, at similar prices to moderate hotels in same areas,.. and that agency has uniform rules about check in/out, and no-charge cancellations etc & good rep for resolving any problems.

Try this online map http://www.orangesmile.com/destinations/img/athens-map-big.jpg (click & it gets huge, put Acropolis in center & navigate with side-slides). I like it for browsing, because it shows clearly where the no-cars lanes are, and where are the busy avenues with 6 lanes of traffic busy 24/7, so you can avoid those. Districts to look at include PLaka, Makrgianni (my fave), Koukaki, Aerides (really part of Plaka) Monastiraki and Psirri, the last 2 are lively but can be v noisy at night. Kolonaki is quite upscale but a farther walk to everything ... Thissio also is a hike tho has a metro station.

Most efficient browsing without being steered on to topdollar acccoms is to use your private browser (which does not plant "cookies") and use this link - https://tinyurl.com/heq6edp - of booking dot com which has a filter for places near Acropolis. When the list comes up, don't click on it. INstead cllick ikon "show on map" and you see all available places as balloons, in Exact locations (not general areas). Click on pvt rooms/apts with $$ rates to y our liking. Good luck!
