I am planning a trip to the Peloponnese and as part of our trip we are staying in Agios Stephanos. We are planning to travel from there to Mystras. Is it worth stopping on the way in Sparta? I think we would rather take a hike and are looking at The Village of Anavryti to do a short hike instead of Sparta.

Sparta is a pleasant enough small town but there’s little of interest there. The ancient Spartans didn’t really go in for monuments.
Mystra itself is really interesting and in a spectacular location. It’s also very large: you’ll get plenty of walking on the site itself.
