I want to add 3-4 days after my 14 day Greece Tour concludes in Athens—looking for island suggestions for a solo traveler?
What time of year will you be there? If you are too early, or too late, in the season the islands may not be a good choice as if there aren’t enough tourists around some businesses won’t be open. I did the Greece tour two years ago in the last two weeks of April, and some of our tour group went to Santorini after. I went on my own to Venice for a week.
Thanks Anita! The tour ends April 5th—so very hood intel regarding checking into what will be open. Another thought is to take a 3 day cruise to see Santorni, Mykonos and Crete.
You could also check Evia. Completely off the beaten track destination, super authentic and lots of stuff to do.
Consider just heading to Crete for three days. There is a lot to see there and as it is a large island hotels and businesses will not be closed down fot the season. You can fly to either Chania or Heraklion. Chania is a lovely city with a beautiful harbour. The historic centre is full of interesting shops, restaurants, and there are some interesting museums, and the market. Heraklion is home to the archaeological museum containing many of the finds from nearby Knossos, which is an easy short bus ride away.
