Aegean flights 2024

IF you are planning a trip to Greece next summer, Aegean has just published its international and domestic flights schedule for the 2024 season, with for example (during summer):

Athens → Santorini from €71

Athens→Naxos from €52

They offer a great price, but there is some inconvenience such as the carry on limit, timeliness and we experienced a number of gate changes minutes before boarding. Fun fact, all the flight attendants have a “look”…..reminded me of a Robert Palmer video.

The carry-on limits are primarily a concern with flights to smaller islands, because many of them have short runways. Going over weight is a very real possibility and leads to cargo being left behind. But that's not exclusively a problem with Aegean, Sky Express has a similar policy.

I've only had positive experiences with Aegean crew. Plus they feed you on medium haul flights, which is nice

To avoid confusion, hadickson's reference to gate changes maybe have only to do with international Aegean flights .. in any case, all Aegean flights from ATH to an island depart from Main ATH bldg. As for the "CArry on limits" ad edwardius says, these are based on the necessity for smaller planes on short-runway islands such as Naxos -- which only accommodates modern turbo-prop planes, not jets. And it's not only weight, its because such planes have smaller cabin overhead storage units -- your 20" rollaboard often just won't fit up there! Be good sports about it... the shorter runways mean these isles don't get jumbo jets, thus somewhat protected against huge package-tour crowds.

Also note that if you plan to take a Europe → Greece flight this winter with Aegean, there is a promotional offer (-20%) valid until October 23.

Just to tell to the forum webmaster that this is only to provide information, I am not paid by Aegean. :-))

Just an FYI...On the local airlines in Greece, (Aegean, Olympic and Sky jet )
you can check in 48 hours before your flight. Even if you pay for your seats upfront, you are not guaranteed a seat. They overbook and it's basically "first come, first serve"
We did not know that and were bumped off our flight to the next one...
