Some things I learned (fortunately before I took a trip!)
- If you want to visit an island, consider going there first. It is more efficient than seeing Athens first as you will have to be back in Athens the night before your flight.
- If you want to see more than one island, consider ferry routes. It is easiest to stay within the same island group as there aren't very many ferries between them.
- There aren't very many trains in Greece. There are buses. We took some on islands and they work very well. On the mainland we have rented a car which is the most efficient way to get around.
- Don't expect to see Greece in one trip. Plan one trip you would like to take. If you are like us, you will be planning a second before you even finish your first!
