Any advice on visiting the Acropolis in July? Buying ticket, where to enter, etc.

Go first thing in the morning when they first open so you have at least a little time to explore before the crowds descend.

We went in the late afternoon yesterday. Arrived at the west entrance around 6:00. The line was fairly long but moved quickly, we purchased tickets after about 10 minutes. We were able to climb up the Acropolis and had plenty of time to look around. They rang a bell at 7:50 to round up everyone, it closes at 8:00pm.
You can purchase a ticket online ahead of time, then you would avoid standing in the ticket line.

Note these new rules in place since June 15:
Visitors can enter the Acropolis Archaeological Site strictly at the time they selected when they issued their ticket, according to the terms and conditions of use of the e-ticket.
Visitors to the Archaeological Site are kindly requested to be at the site 30 minutes before the area they have chosen
