Acropolis tickets - day of purchase, early versus late, and ease of walk up

We will be in Athens Sunday to Wednesday, May 11 to 14, arriving from Delphi (after dropping off our rental car). The morning slots are sold out for Monday. We would prefer to visit the museum on Sunday prior to going up. Would it make sense/be possible to go very early Monday and take a chance on getting in at 8 am - and would it be better to go to the southeast entrance (our hotel is closer there). I’m concerned about the long term weather forecast and the chance of Tuesday rain. Wednesday is available early and we could go then but I’d rather get this number one site done. My wife is concerned about the heat in the afternoon. She also would like an idea as to the time required to walk up.

It was quite sunny when I was there in late May but not oppressively hot--of course you can have an early heat wave, but I would not be overly concerned about it.
It is hard to recall the length of the walk up because you are moving incrementally in a line the entire time, but I am sure you can google the estimate (heck, you can probably watch someone walk up the entire thing on YouTube).
Check the weather two days before, not two weeks, then make your plan--good luck!
I actually found viewing it from afar (in the taxi) so compelling, almost tear-inducing--something about seeing that view is just special.

Check the weather forecast for Athens on meteo.gr

For now, it's sunny with bearable temperatures on your dates.

If you can't find a time slot available on the official website at your preferred time, you can try third-party resellers. They usually have a quota of tickets to sell, which is partly why morning tickets sell out quickly on the official website. Obviously, the ticket will be more expensive on these commercial websites.

Or choose a 5 p.m. time slot; all the cruise passengers will be back on their ships, and there will be fewer group tours.

Go to the side entrance located near the Acropolis Museum if it's more convenient for you.
