Acropolis Ticket Time Slots

Can someone please clarify the statement, below, from the official website? Time slots for May are listed for one hour. Does that mean your stay is limited to the hour interval — plus 15 minutes before and/or 15 minutes after? Or is only the entry window limited? Last time we were there we simply walked up and stayed as long as we wished so this is a bit confusing.

** Timed entry tickets are required for all visitors
We would like to inform you that from April 1st 2024, entry is only possible during the selected time slot. The ticket is valid from 15 min. before to 15 min. after the selected time slot for Acropolis Archaeological Site and from 1 hour before to 1 hour after for the other Archaeological Sites and Museums . Visitors are advised to arrive 30 minutes before their selected timed entry slot.

It is clarified that the arrival of visitors is allowed up to 20 minutes before the end of the schedule.**

Thank you. So, are you saying that entry is possible until 20 minutes before the time slot ends and that there is no restriction as to how long you are able to stay?

You can enter 15 minutes before or after the entry time on your ticket. I don't know how strict they are about this, but I would not want to test them. This is their attempt to control the number of people climbing up to and entering the Acropolis at a given time. Unless you are there before 8:00 there will be a mob, so be prepared. We were there at the end of October last year and I am really glad we got there before our entry time of 8:00. By the time we left a couple hours later we had to fight against the throngs to exit.

Thank you @ travel scamp - Our tickets are for 4PM. So, we should be okay arriving before 5PM and not restricted to length of visit. Correct?
