We are planning to visiting the Acropolis Museum on either March 28 or March 29. Is it advisable to buy the museum tickets in advance or can we just buy them when we are there? I would rather buy them there in case one or more of the kids are too tired to visit. But if buying them beforehand is better can do that as well. This is just for the acropolis museum - will be doing the acropolis as part of a tour.

There was a significant line to purchase tickets when I went there, but it did seem to move along. I was on a local tour so our tickets were pre booked. I felt that having a guide at this museum provided good value.

We were there in October 2025. Hadn't pre-purchased tickets, but when we went there we discovered we "should" have. There were QR codes posted and we had to select an entry time. We waited a short while then tried to go about 30 min early and didn't have any problems.
I'd suggest checking online from your hotel for available entry times, then purchasing the tickets for your preferred time.
