Acropolis Museum Restaurant

Has anyone eaten at the Acropolis Museum Restaurant? It is open to midnight on Friday and Saturday. It looks like it has great views of the Acropolis. We could include a visit to the museum and then dinner "with a view". They take reservations which I thought might be a good sign.

I checked Trip Advisor and and saw that 68% of the reviews were "very good to excellent", 16% "average" and 16% "poor to terrible"
That is not exactly a 'home run' recommendation. Maybe I should hedge my bets and do drinks on the terrace and dinner elsewhere.

Just trying to get some other first hand experiences of the restaurant food, service, etc. before I buy dinner for 6.

Thanks,

I haven't been, but you have me interested! I'm staying nearby in October and this might be a great choice for me. I notice that the Trip Advisor reviews were for the cafe as well as the restaurant. The restaurant comments seemed pretty positive.

Have not dined there, but lunched several times ... decent prices for salads, sandwiches, etc and a lovelyl view of Parthenon above, from the glassed-in airconditioned terrace. I don't think they aim at "fine dining" but rather a pleasant convenience for ruins-goers.

The Museum restaurant is definitely not a place for fine dining.

The dishes are basic and extremely expensive, which is normal for a Museum restaurant which receives 99% of tourists.

If it's for the view of the Acropolis AND a good dinner you will find several other rooftop restaurants.

For example the GH Attikos

or the Sin Athina

Otherwise, if it's just for the view and the atmosphere, and to drink a cocktail facing the Parthenon, I recommend the "Couleur Locale" bar

They also serve burgers & salads.

JoLui will have more knowledgeable recommendations, but my friend and I had dinner with a view at City ZEN, a rooftop bar/restaurant, on the terrace. Just another option.

Missed by most people posting is the fact that on weekend evenings the restaurant changes from a cafe to a restaurant and a completely different menu. Fine Dining is never my thing, but if I can get a nice meal, at a reasonable price (menu showed reasonable prices) a few minute walk from my hotel it remains a possibility.

I’ve had coffee there a few times but never eaten. I was surprised the coffee was so reasonable given the usual price in museums.

If you decide not to risk it another option with reasonable food and excellent views is the Strophi.
