Acropolis and backpacks

Traveling in September with family and 9 month old grandson. First stop Athens and Acropolis. Newly purchased Rick Steves travel guide says backpacks are allowed. Acropolis site says they aren’t. I’d like to bring back pack with some water and daughter has a diaper backpack. What is the correct answer on backpacks? With limited time for both touring and our entrance ticket time slot we want to be prepared. Thx

It’s under facts and tips..

In reading a few trip advisor or online comments I’m seeing some people are saying they could bring in ‘normal’ backpack or saw others with them and they thought ‘large’ reference meant backpacking type. But we want to be prepared with the time slot and only a 5 hour Athens adventure before heading to cruise port. Thx

I can’t find such a thing on their website. So can you please link to the website of the Acropolis where it says that backpacks aren’t allowed?
Could it be you are confused with the Acropolis Museum? Backpacks aren’t allowed in the Acropolis museum for obvious reasons, but they are allowed outside on the actual Acropolis.

Edited to add; the website now linked to by the OP is not the official website. The website itself says so if you scroll all the way down.

The Acropolis allows small bags and essential personal items, but large backpacks are not permitted. The exact size limit for bags is not specified. A small backpack of reasonable size will be accepted.
