Accessing Ferry Tickets Online

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had information regarding accessing ferry tickets purchased online. I bought two tickets for Hellenic Seaways using the Direct Ferries website from Crete to Santorini about a month ago. I received a confirmation email, but when I try to use the link to view my tickets the Hellenic Seaways website doesn't recognize my name or reference number. There is a description in the email from Direct Ferries saying I should use the link to access my tickets within two days of departure, and I'm still about a month away from leaving, so I was wondering if the tickets can't even be viewed until then? Or have we been scammed by Direct Ferries and need to book new tickets? I was hoping to print the tickets from home and take them with me, as I wasn't sure I'd be able to find a printer easily while on vacation, but are tickets only available within 48 hours of a trip? If anyone has any clarifying information I'd be very appreciative!

Normally when you buy tickets through a 3rd party vendor the confirmation/reference number is issued so you can print it and take that information to an authorized ticket seller, either at the port of departure or the actual ferry company office (in this case it would be at the port in Heraklion) so they can issue your ticket then and there. I've never heard of a buyer being able to print out a ticket online before.

Just a thought: is it possible that the confirmation number only allows you to see your purchase on that Direct Ferries website and not on the HS website? That would make sense.

When I purchased the tickets, Direct Ferries offered the option to receive them electronically, which I chose to do so I could save time and print them out beforehand. Their website doesn't seem to have a log-in where I can check my booking, it just redirects to Hellenic Seaways which won't recognize my reservation. I'm thinking it's just until 48 hrs before departure, when I would then be able to access my tickets, but I was hoping to get input from other as to whether that's an accurate assumption.

When I fly from Athens to Santorini on Aegean I can go online up to 48 hours before my scheduled departure to print out my boarding pass. It sound like this ticket agent might be offering the same sort of service, but I don't remember ever being able to print out a ferry ticket beforehand, just the confirmation info to take to the ticket office. I hope for your sake I'm wrong.
