7 night Greece itinerary feedback

Greetings friends, I was wondering if anyone had feedback for an itinerary I'm working on for an 7 night trip to Greece in August (5th-13th). I know it among the hottest (and busiest) times of the year so we will definitely staying in hotels that have pools.

3 Nights Santorini (we are flying in via FRA)
1 Night Meteora (fly to Athens in the morning, pick up rental car, possibly stop for a couple of hours in Delphi on the way. Overnight in Kalambaka and visit a monastery the next morning)
3 Nights Athens
Depart from ATH

Ordinarily I would prefer to take a ferry between Santorini and Athens but we have limited time. I'm also considering swapping Meteora with Nafplio since it's a bit closer to Athens, but it's my SO's first time to Greece and I know she would love Meteora.

MEteora with only 7 nights is just plain crazy.

I would also not enjoy a four hour drive (even with stops) two days in a row, choose Napflio if you must insert another stop.

We went to Meteora this year and we loved it. But you really do not have time to enjoy it. You will spend more time driving than anything else. Can you add a couple more nights?

Nafplio is a bit closer but still awfully far for one night.

As much as we loved Meteora, I too question your limited time. Really rushed in 7 nights. Perhaps Nafplio would be an option. That said, maybe consider deleting a night in Santorini? Or if you could add another couple days to your itinerary? I think Athens warrants 3 nights.

Change “possible stop in Delphi” to “definitely stop” and drop Meteora.

We just returned from a two week stay in Greece and hit Athens, Santorini, Delphi, Meteora, and Sparta. We picked up the car at the Athens airport and drove to Delphi had lunch, toured the site and then on to Meteora for the night. We left our Athens hotel at 6:00Am and didn’t get to our Meteora hotel until after 7:00PM. Don’t do it. While Meteora is beautiful it may not be worth it for the amount of time you have. I felt rushed in Delphi and there is a LOT of mountain driving. Incredibly beautiful but hard to enjoy when you are a winding road on the side of the mountain. Spend the night outside of Delphi and give yourself time to enjoy it.

Delphi for us was a bit of a surprise. I had not expected the surrounding land to be so beautiful. You are up in the mountains. In fact we passed a ski resort on our way in!!

We spent the night there but still felt a bit rushed because our flight from Crete had been delayed, getting us to Delphi hours later than we had expected.

I think the idea of spending the night in Delphi and skipping Meteora is a good one, unless you can add a couple more nights to your trip.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - I think we will opt for Delphi instead, and save Meteora for another trip.

Now just to decide to stay in Delphi, or Arachova, or perhaps Galaxidi. Trip planning is honestly so much fun!

We had gorgeous views from our hotel in Delphi, all way to the sea! Beautiful scenery in Delphi.

I stay in Galaxidi, the seaside town and specifically at Ganymides, it is one of the best boutique hotels with handmade jams in a beautiful garden. The drive to Delphi is 20 minutes from there

If you’re already down in the Cyclades, then just hit another island like Naxos or Paros. They couldn’t be any more different than Santorini. Save the mainland for another time.
