Kalimera!!! My husband and I will be back to Greece the end of September for two weeks. We plan on spending one week traveling throughout the Peloponnese and a handful of time on an island. (We have a family condo & car in Athens so that is taken care of). We typically like to go straight to island(s) when we arrive and then have backend of trip in mainland. We have been to Santorini before and I have been to Milos and Paros. I love Milos but after 3 trips I want to try something new. I was looking at one option from any of the chains - Naxos or Kefalonia or Skiathios. My husband and I are in our late thirties and not about late night party scene - more about food scenery chilling boating on bluest waters. All islands seem wonderful but the more I research the more confused I get! Kefalonia, not sure if weather may be rainy at that time? Any input / recommendations welcome. I have read through many advice on this forum. To be travelers - mostly Cycladic focus - less in Ionian and Sporadic. Thank you in advance!!!
Naxos is our favourite island. It has just about everything one would want to see and do, a lovely main town with waterfront and harbour, a maze of back alleys leading up to the Venetian era Kastro, mountain villages, hikes, some antiquities including the landmark of Naxos the Portera still standing at the entrance of the harbour for over 20 centuries, and good beaches. Lots of ferry and flights for you to get there.
