I am bringing my 12 year old son to Athens over TG. We land Monday at 4pm and depart Friday at 530pm. He is a huge Percy Jackson fan and loves Greek mythology. I priced out some of the Percy Jackson tours and they are incredibly expensive. I have found, on other vacations, that smaller tours are better to really learn about the local area. Does anyone have an itinerary/tour guide suggestions for Athens and day trips this time of year? I also want to take him on a food tour (he LOVES Greek food and is willing to try new things) as well as a Segway tour (he is finally old enough and weight enough) to do one. Thanks!
I don’t think there are Segway tours in Athens. Really the historical area is very compact and walkable. Segways require more space than there is in Athens.

I’ve not done it personally but it might be worth you looking at With Locals
They do a ‘family friendly’ mythology tour and also a food tour.
If I was going to do one day trip I’d do Delphi. The site itself is really impressive and you get great views up in the mountains.
Have a great trip.

I would expect Context Tours to have something you'd enjoy. Although not inexpensive, they have amazing docents! contexttravel.com
You can do Athens on your own.
Plan on spending about three hours at the New Acropolis Museum not far from the Acropolis. For the Acropolis, go early in the morning, to avoid the crowds.
The Archaeology Museum is fantastic as well.
Watch for pickpockets. The METRO is easy to use. Don't miss the changing of the guard at Constitution Square.
To visit sites outside Athens like the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion you need a tour. Also, going to Delphi is a good choice.
We took a wonderful Private Food Tour of Athens with Kostas, the owner of Athens Walks. It was so interesting and we saw parts of Athens we would never have seen without this tour. I highly recommend this tour led by native Athenians and it was so reasonably priced too. We ate quite a bit so don’t eat a big breakfast.
