We have been invited to a baptism celebration of a dear friend's child at Lake Plastiras near Karditsa in July 2023 and would like to see other parts of Greece. We have never been before and do not speak Greek! We realize will not be able to do it justice but love to hike, go to beaches, walk around villages/cities and just "take-in" the culture of the communities we are visiting. We are novices at planning overseas visits (although did a Rick Steves Italy in 2017 and have planned many stateside/Canada ). Thinking spending 3 days Athens, 2-3 days at Lake Plastiras (baptism is Sat so Friday thru Sunday), 1-2d Meteora and ? Would love to hear what others think would be options. We would be flying from Boston to Athens. Thanks!
Congratulations on being invited to what should be a large celebration. We have never been invited to a Greek baptism but have been near several of these large celebrations.
If you go south to the Peloponnesean Peninsula , I highly recommend a few days stay in pretty Napflion.
thanks! Still deciding how best to spend our time realizing of course will not see all we would like so will need to go back!
